Chicago Bears Hats

So, this is some relatively big news in the world of NFL hats: New Era has won the new contract for NFL hats in 2012. So everyone is aware, the NFL basically re-evaluates its contracts every 10 years – in this last evaluation period, Reebok lost both the Jersey contract and the Hat contract. Ouch.

Anyhow, New Era makes some pretty tight caps so it should be really cool to see what they come up with!

Hi all, after being MIA for quite a while, some new hats have hit the market and we have the reviews everyone is looking for! Enjoy and maybe playing around at Fans Edge can pass the time after this horrible Giants loss we suffered yesterday. Bear Down!

This is a hat aimed at the out and about crowd. Very simple, very dark except for one prominent orange classic C logo and some sort of new school design thing going on the side. Despite the fact that I feel like this is the Ed Hardy of Chicago Bears Hats, I like it. I think it presents lots of options as to when it can be worn, and you could wear this one out to a night spot or something without looking like a total tool. (editors note, wearing a ball cap to a nightclub will probably still leave you looking like half a tool.) Anyhow, I give this hat 4 stars because it is something completely different and I always applaud when people take a shot.

So I feel I need to preface the review of this hat by stating that the low marks a direct response to the limited utility of this hat. Basically, unless you are out tailgating, you probably don't want to wear this hat. That said, this is a really cool and fun hat to wear to your local football tailgate. The text is distressed but ends up looking better than the airbrushed hats the NFL launched this year. And to be honest, nothing says I'm ready to grill like a hat that says "Marinade Master" on the back.

So, normally, I don't do player oriented hats but after Devin Hester's awesome punt return against the Packers last week, I think it is only fitting that we show him some props. In the form of a hat with his name and number on it. Let's face it – you wouldn't have been caught dead wearing this one two weeks ago, but things change fast in the NFL – now is the perfect time to show your rekindled support to the WIndy City Flyer, Devin Hester! This hat itself is pretty plain – the focus is clearly on the name and number and that is A-OK.

This is not the prettiest hat. It doesn't have the coolest styling or a whole lot of color, but what it does have makes up for all of this: The old school Chicago Bear Roaring logo. I love it – this logo may be somewhat out of vogue, but with hats like this, we can bring it back: AWESOME! Also, the Bears name in script in the back is a bit different but in a good way that meshes with the throw back nature of this cap. NFL logo appears on the side.
