Chicago Bears Hats

I love commemorative gear, because after all, you never know when the next time will be! That's right, our Chicago Bears have made the 2010 playoffs and this is the hat all the players were given after the Minnesota game to celebrate. The design is pretty cool but there is 1 element that says it all about this hat: "Division Champions". You could slap that on a paper bag and I would be sold. 5/5 for getting to the play offs the first time in 4 years. Bear Down!

Not sure why, but I like this hat better as a ball cap than a knit cap. I think the difference is that the white visible stitching really pops against the two toned gray background. Anyhow, this is the hat for the now – you can look just like your favorite bear players now that we have our own swarm hats and shirts on the sidelines. On a side note, did anyone notice how our players had plain orange shirts for the first few games of the season while all the other teams had the swarm gear already? Wierd. The best example was when Jay Cutler was out with a concussion – he was totally rocking the plain Orange shirt!

So we finally have a chance to look at the NFL's 2010 Swarm hats – you know what I am talking about – those wild 2 tone hats and shirts you see everyone on the sidelines wearing. After taking a minute to look at this one up close, I think… I think I like it. A glowing endorsement right? Well, there isn't much to say about this hat – if you like the pattern you will like this hat, and if you don't, well luckily, there are tons of other hats to check out. I give Reebok props for going out on a high note with some interesting designs.

With a hat like this, you will be asking, is it winter yet? Bring on the snow! This is a sweet throw back-ish knit hat. The knitting is much bigger than normal giving this hat a 1970's blue collar feel. The colors look really nice here and I think this style of hat looks really cute on he ladies every bit as much as it looks solid on a guy.The white layer in the hat gives a level of, dare I saw, depth that most Bears knit hats are missing.

So in the interest of full disclosure, this is not a hat I would probably ever wear. With that behind us, I will also say that this is the sort of hat that would be a blast to sport at some December Home games. Definitely a look at me statement, but hey, when it comes to Christmas and the Bears, it is hard to go wrong. Low rating here is for my personal taste – I am pretty sure there are some readers here who will get a total kick out of this hat!

There isn't much to say here and I don't think that there needs to be. This is a solid Blue hat with the throwback Bears head logo. Very cool. A little more subtle than the classic "C" logo for the un-initiated. This is a hat I would wear – and judging from the flap here, this hat is sure to keep many a Chicagoans ears warm during the coming winter months.

This is a hat aimed at the out and about crowd. Very simple, very dark except for one prominent orange classic C logo and some sort of new school design thing going on the side. Despite the fact that I feel like this is the Ed Hardy of Chicago Bears Hats, I like it. I think it presents lots of options as to when it can be worn, and you could wear this one out to a night spot or something without looking like a total tool. (editors note, wearing a ball cap to a nightclub will probably still leave you looking like half a tool.) Anyhow, I give this hat 4 stars because it is something completely different and I always applaud when people take a shot.

So I feel I need to preface the review of this hat by stating that the low marks a direct response to the limited utility of this hat. Basically, unless you are out tailgating, you probably don't want to wear this hat. That said, this is a really cool and fun hat to wear to your local football tailgate. The text is distressed but ends up looking better than the airbrushed hats the NFL launched this year. And to be honest, nothing says I'm ready to grill like a hat that says "Marinade Master" on the back.

So, normally, I don't do player oriented hats but after Devin Hester's awesome punt return against the Packers last week, I think it is only fitting that we show him some props. In the form of a hat with his name and number on it. Let's face it – you wouldn't have been caught dead wearing this one two weeks ago, but things change fast in the NFL – now is the perfect time to show your rekindled support to the WIndy City Flyer, Devin Hester! This hat itself is pretty plain – the focus is clearly on the name and number and that is A-OK.

This is not the prettiest hat. It doesn't have the coolest styling or a whole lot of color, but what it does have makes up for all of this: The old school Chicago Bear Roaring logo. I love it – this logo may be somewhat out of vogue, but with hats like this, we can bring it back: AWESOME! Also, the Bears name in script in the back is a bit different but in a good way that meshes with the throw back nature of this cap. NFL logo appears on the side.
